Celine Dion Resuming Caesars Palace Residency

Celine Dion returns to Caesars on Aug. 27 with 40 shows through Jan. 17.

Celine Dion is set to return to Las Vegas in August to resume her Caesars Palace residency, her rep announced on Friday 03/20/2015. The 46-year-old singer hasn’t performed any shows in Las Vegas since last summer when she revealed she was taking time off to care for her cancer-stricken husband Rene Angelil.

“It is very emotional for me, and I’m anticipating the emotions to grow more as the date gets closer,” Dion told People. “It’s very touching. Every night is a new show… I promise there will be high, happy notes,” she added.

Dion’s last show at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace was in July 2014. At the time, she was struggling with a throat illness and later announced in August that she was postponing her Vegas residency “indefinitely” so she could look after her husband.

Angelil has been battling cancer since 1999 and underwent surgery to remove a tumor from his neck in 2013. “I want to devote every once of my strength and energy to my husband’s healing, and to do so, it’s important for me to dedicate this time to him and our children,” Dion said in a statement at the time.

Caesars Palace headliner Celine Dion, five-time Grammy Award winner returns to Caesars Palace for a run of shows in the third – fourth year of her current residency, which she says will probably run until 2019.

“She’s definitely planning to go for years four and five.” If all continues to go well, there will be years six and seven — and, who knows, maybe even beyond that. She’s very happy and feels right at home on The Strip.”

Caesars Palace headliner and superstar Celine Dion has won back the full strength of her voice. “She’s raring to go and can’t wait to return” to Las Vegas. Celine resumes her residency at The Colosseum on June 9. “Her manager husband Rene Angelil told top Caesars officials over the weekend: “All is well. She’s in great form and can’t wait to get out of the house and back onstage.”

Celine, who had to cancel several shows, was diagnosed with a weakness in her right vocal chord, secondary to a viral illness, and medical specialists ordered six to eight weeks of voice rest in order to recover fully from the condition.

“She is completely well again, and the throat experts have given her a totally clean bill of health,” I learned.

When Celine Dion closed her show at Caesars Palace in 2007, she left many fans hoping she would someday return to Las Vegas. Their wishes were granted when Dion signed a deal to come back to the hotel and opened her new show on the last day of December 2011.

The show kicks off with video footage of Dion’s last performance in Vegas in December, 2007, followed by video of the world tour she embarked on after her show ended. The audience gets to follow her life building up to her return to Sin City.

The curtain rises and Dion is standing on stage in a sparkling gown, receiving a standing ovation before even singing a note.
